SESOTHO WEEKEND IN MORIJA – 4 -6 September
Morija Guest Houses will be holding another 'Introduction to Sesotho Language and Culture Weekend’ from 4th to 6th September 2015 Aimed particularly at people newly arrived in Lesotho, the weekend will help participants to gain confidence when attempting to speak Sesotho, to acquire useful knowledge of Lesotho's history and Basotho culture and generally to feel more comfortable in their new situation. The language learning sessions are not intensive as the emphasis is on encouraging all participants. In between the language sessions, there are discussions on culture as well as hikes to explore the beautiful environment. Children are welcome and will be kept happily occupied during the language sessions. MORIJA ARTS AND CULTURAL FESTIVAL—September/October (exact dates pending)
Preparations for the 2015 annual Morija Arts and Cultural Festival are currently under-way following last year's cancelation of the event. Last year's theme: 'Redefinition' (Re Bo Mang) under the large banner 'Kaofela Re Chabana Sa Khomo' meaning (Unity in Diversity) will be carried forward to this year:
The Morija Arts and Cultural Festival is one of the main cultural events in Lesotho, established in 1999. Its aim is to help improve tourism and promote Lesotho's cultural heritage together with peace and unity. It is also intended to help Basotho unite and celebrate diversity while showcasing what makes them special and highlighting their creativity and excellence.
It takes place annually for four to five days in September or early October and attracts about 35,000 people each year. It provides a vibrant and entertaining program focusing on school cultural competitions, art and crafts exhibition and sales, food, fashion and music among others. The organizers have pledged to ensure that the 2015 Festival is well attended and successful. More details to follow.

The Visual Arts Department of the Ladybird International Arts Academy will be presenting a fun-workshop for very young children on Friday afternoon, 18 September.
