A new source for on-the-ground reporting from Mexico, in English

I hope this note finds you in good health and spirits.

I've been meaning to send this along for some time now... I'm now coordinating Pie de Página in English together with Pie de Página editors in México City. We started this project in January of this year in order to uplift the level of discourse and understanding about Mexico in the US, Canada and elsewhere.

Our goal is to allow reporters in Mexico to reach readers in English, and to create a space for stories about Mexico to be told without mediation by editors in New York or Toronto.

Currently, Pie de Página in English consists of a bi-weekly newsletter that includes at least two original translations of stories from Pie de Página and the Media Alliance of Periodistas de a Pie, which represents nine local media outlets in Mexico, from Chihuahua to Chiapas.

Each translation is chosen by local journalists and editors through a collective process. Our newsletter also includes a round-up of important news and analysis in English about México, as well as a featured photograph.
