Special Report: Journalist voices flee Mexico--KVIA

One family gets political asylum in 2 months and Emilio Gutierrez is still waiting after four years. And there are MANY other refugees who have applied for asylum and whose cases are pending also...some are journalists, some are social activists who spoke out in Mexico and who continue speaking out here in the US.  Others are business people who have lost family members and have been attacked for their refusal to pay extortion. In some of these cases, the people sent to carry out physical threats are the police and army.  

It is good to see KVIA pay attention to these 2 journalists, one granted asylum and another still in limbo.  There are dozens more people like them in our border communities...   molly
