A little girl
A little girl played with her doll
she fed her princess, washed the tiny clothes,
like she exactly knew how to take care!
Banana florets were her caped warriors,
violet bracts- the flying ship.
Her hair adorned with halo of clover flowers,
she looked up at the cloud changing shapes
on the bright blue sky- elephant for a moment,
tree, fairy, bird and monster the next.
She stared at the stars at night and wondered,
yes, she wondered a lot.
Unconditioned, she held the universe in her head.
Two plus two is equal to four
next semester, you have got to beat the foe
school taught to solve the problems that don’t exist.
burdened by expectations, restricted by judgements,
she grew fearful and skeptical.
crushed by competition, cluttered by virtual world,
she gained wider intellect but narrower insight.
Lost for the three decades, she finds herself
in a little girl playing doll, seated on her lap
creating stories and myriad of queries
unaware of the world- virtual or real.
She looks at this little girl with apprehension,
how can she save her, how can she expand her
universe.
