Witvlei is COOOOOLD!!!

This weekend we ran a camp at a hostel in Witvlei ("vit-fly"). It's a
small community about 2-3 hours east of Windhoek (depending on the
wind and how well the vans are working). It was a lot of fun but it's
very cold there. It was also heart breaking though because the kids
there are just as poor if not poorer than our kids at the center.
They have a government rationed blanket and for some that's it to
cover up with at night. I've got two flanel sheets and a quilt and i'm
still cold. Also these kids really don't recieve love from those that
take care of them so that is definitely somthing to be praying about.
Alinha, the lady that runs the kitchen at Beautiful Gate was telling
us the other day that most of these kids really don't have rights at
home. They are expected to stay out of their parents' way and not
come crying when they have a problem. Of course this only complicates
the whole AIDS/HIV problem because people will show these kids
affection and buy them things saying, "come sleep with me and i'll get
you this stuff". Or even if they are raped they cannot go cry to their
parents because they will get beaten. It breaks my heart and I hope
yours as well.
I've been a little homesick lately but God is giving me strength to
carry on.
For those of you at Living Hope, I hope this summer is going well. I
hear Butch's new theme is really good. I miss you guys a lot.
Hopefully I'll be back again to town on saturday but if not I love you
all.

unity within the base and that God will resolve communication issues
