First off:
Last week I forgot to say Happy Father's Day to all the dads out
there, especially my dad, my Poppy and my Pa. I did get to tell my
dad on the phone though so that was really nice.
Okay with that said...
Alot has happened this week. On Sunday I went to the church where
Bryan Bullington (the guy we worked with last time I was here) is the
preacher. Ronny Higgins had a team there from Highland Baptist in
Waco and Ronny actually gave the message. It was really cool to see
lots of old friends from waco and from the last time i was here. I
spent most of the day with the bassingthwaightes (my host family last
time i was here), the bullingtons and ronny's team. Ronny's team came
to the center to play with the kids for a couple hours for three days
this week which was really nice.
On Thursday I went into Katatura with Laura again, this time to do
visits to homes of those applying for kids to be at the center next
year. God humbled me again when I heard over and over again how most
of these families are going without food for about 3 days a week! It's
hard for me to complrehend that because i'm upset if i miss one meal.
At youth clubs on thursdays and fridays I've gotten the nickname
"teacher spiderman" or "peter parker" because the kids think i look
like toby mcguire. This Thursday evening though we got to witness
something amazing, 21 kids (11 boys and 10 girls) gave their lives to
Christ! It was really really awesome. Please please keep these boys
and girls in your prayers because it's hard for a new Christian in any
environment, but especially in a place like this, Satan is gonna be
hitting them hard. I'll try to find the list and send it out to you
guys next week so that yall can pray for them by name.
Thanks to those of you that have emailed me or sent me facebook
messages, I really appreciate it. Keep me in your prayers. I love you
guys.
