First things first: Happy Anniversary to my parents today. They've
been married 23(i think) years now. Congratulations guys.
Also on Tuesday my brother turns 17. Scary. haha no. Happy Birthday
Zach, can't wait to see you in July.
Not a lot has happened since Wednesday, but youth clubs did start. On
Thursday from 4-6 we have a youth club at the center for high school
kids and on Friday we have one for elementary school kids from 1-3.
(we get off after lunch on fridays from the preschoolers). We play
some games and do worship and then have a snack. It's a lot of fun,
but can be tiring.
I think for the rest of this email i'm going to type out an excerpt
from my journal for yall.
"6-8-07 (5:09pm)
Africa: a new experience everyday. My hands are numb because I just
got through washing clothes by hand and the temperature is dropping
with the sunset. We do have washing machines on the base but I only
had four red shirts and didn't want to pay N$3 for that. So Rashidii
and Auino showed me how to hand wash. Inspired by this I'm going to
start a list of things I took for granted back home. When I realize
new things I will add them to the list.
Here goes:
Mexican food (including tortillas and salsa at all)
microwaves (none in our houses)
electric ignition gas stoves (everyone uses electric or gas with a
match)
washing machines and dryers (all our clothes dry on the line)
driving when and where I wanted
eating whenever I felt like it
calling people without paying for it...."
Prayer requests:
continued strength and help with homesickness
Funds for Beautiful Gate
Unity on the base
God to bring a change to this country
That's all for now. I'm gonna go eat at Mugg and Bean for lunch
because they have quesadillas and I'm almost ready to kill for Mexican
food right now.
Love you guys,
Joshua
ps- Father's Day is next Sunday so get your dad something and tell him
you love him.
