Frog Islanders... I hope you'll come out and see other Ypsi gardens, besides having the tour stop right at Frog Island... We've got several new gardens excited to show off and connect to other community gardeners in town!

Have you reserved your spot in the bicycle or driving version of the tour yet?  We hope you'll come out and enjoy Ypsi-area gardens, neighbors, friends, and great food!  RSVP to ash...@growinghope.net right away!

Growing Hope Hosts the 3rd Annual Tour de Fresh-- Bicycle or Driving Tour!

Growing Hope is hosting Tour de Fresh, our 3rd annual Ypsi-area garden & sustainable food system tour on Tuesday, September 15th from 5PM - 8:30PM.  This is a great opportunity to highlight the work that so many partners in the Growing Hope Community have done, and to inspire others to take part in community & school gardening, urban agriculture, and other ways folks are growing food for themselves & neighbors.  Tour de Fresh will:

  • Showcase what great things are growing because of so many Ypsilantians, youth & adults alike!  The Tour will feature eight gardens, including Growing Hope's Four Square Society raised bed installs, Faith & Food and Community Gardens.
  • Connect existing community & school gardeners, urban farmers, and growing enthusiasts with one another.
  • Generate enthusiasm & ideas as we celebrate the growing season!
  • Enjoy tasty donated treats at the potluck!  There will be pizza made from our brand-new Adobe Oven constructed with natural materials.

Please join us for an optional bike or bus tour starting at 5PM on Tuesday, September 15 from the Downtown Ypsilanti Farmer's Market next to the Key Bank Building at Michigan Ave & Hamilton.   Registration is from 4-5 pm.  There is also an optional self-guided pre-tour of two Ypsi urban microfarms from 4-5 pm-- check in starting at 3:30 for directions/addresses to those spots.

The tour will end at the Growing Hope Center with a potluck at 922 W. Michigan Avenue.  You can drop your potluck dish (which is not mandatory, but the more the better!) when you check in at the Downtown Ypsi Farmers' Market.   Please RSVP to reserve a spot on the tour by emailing ash...@growinghope.net or calling the Growing Hope Office, 734.786.8401.  RSVP as soon as possible!   Tour participants are asked for a donation on a sliding scale of $1-20.

I hope to see you there!
