Hi fellow froby's,

I've heard that there is a growing number of people who just can't get into Catch 22.   It is my suggestion therefore that we open the floor to a new book.   Sorry that everyone has spent the $ on this book but better $ than wasted time.  I know it
is a precious commodity in this group.   Please offer suggestions.   I'm reading the River Why and it's quite wonderful but I know some of you have already read that one.  I still recommend it for your summer reading list while lounging in the
Caribbean or on the Columbia River.

Therefore there is no Catch 22 as you can get out of this.    Suggestion box is now open

      Caryl

I agree.
We are free to make choices about what we read after all.  It's our club.
Let's see what the others think and go with the majority.
In Frobys long, long history, this is an unprecedented event!  Eric

Thanks for offering the suggestion!

Hi and thanks for this.

I was going to send out an e mail to everyone myself and say I need/want to bow out of this book as I have very little time and other things I want to read.  If you are looking into other books I am loving Tenth of December by by George Saunders (He is the author of the short story that David gave us on book club last fall).  It is a book of short stories that are sometimes very disturbing, ironic and often funny.  Each story is "bite-size" compared to what we have been reading but very satisfying.
The River Why is also on my list so if people are up for that so am I.

xo,

M

I could read either of these suggestions. I read the River Why but would love to read it again. How do we decide? Pat

Since several of us have read The River Why then lets think about the George Saunders book that Margaret mentioned,  The Tenth of Dec.     We have to pick a book or we will not ever get a chance to meet and discuss.    Does anyone have
any objections to this book?    If not, then lets try it and see.   It's short stories so that should suit many of your schedules and give us a variety of themes.     Only heard back from a few of you so hope everyone is getting this.   Please answer so
we know if you've gotten this news.

    Thanks,
    Caryl

I'm into reading either book, River Why or Saunders, since I've read neither. What do others have to say of this?

Hi gang! I am excited to read The River Why, but totally open to reading the George Saunders book.  I'll probably buy both :)

Let me know what the majority is into.

Thanks!

Hey all, my mom just sent out a doodle so we can all cast a vote for the next read.
Let's let majority rule.  Vote today so we can start reading.  Eric
