How are we all doing on Beloved?  Shall we set a date?

Im a little over half way through. Setting a date would be good. But in view of my past failures in arriving at a date, im going to wait for someone else to take the lead.

I think Kelin might need to let us know her availability first as she
might be the most limited. I do like Friday nights though as I am no
longer working early on Saturdays.

Oh, and Merry X mas book nerds! Hope you got some good ones under
your tree this year!

Hello all,

   Thanks for including me - I loved the Cloud Atlas conversation! I have not started Beloved yet, been reading another book, but will start soon. For my part, I'm gone for a week at end of January so could not do Friday 25th or the 1st of February - January the 18th would be a possibility.

Jan. 18th is probably good.

Sawyer has a band thing which will likely require me to leave temporarily around 9:00 to go pick her from somewhere (hopefully near by).  Otherwise, this is a good date.  I finished the book this morning.  Whew...I'm better for it, but relieved!  Eric

Please don't change the date but I'm having a simple knee surgery on the 15th.  I'm pretty sure I'll be fine by then though I may have to have Ron give me a lift.  We'll see.  Otherwise the 18th is fine for me

as I'm thinking this is a quick recovery.  Such a beautifully crafted story.  So glad we are reading it.

Ahhhh.  I just checked my work calendar and the 18th can't work.  I've got an Educator of the Year dinner I must attend, as a teacher from Casa is nominated.  Is there an alternative date?  Sorry.  E

We'll figure it out.  Looking into February I have most if not all of my weekend evenings free (sad statement for sure).  Is that too long a time to go before meeting?

For those of you still reading and having trouble getting through the emotional intensity I say keep going.  Attempting to not give too much away but I feel it is largely a book about healing, personally and communally. Really worth getting to the end.

Also wanting to introduce Krista who is going to join us.  She is my friend from West Marin and is reading Beloved now.

I'm actually not in a hurry to finish as each page is like being enveloped by a master craftsman (woman) into another's world.   I love this book.   That said, pretty open in early Feb. as well.
