Dear Friends,
Greetings from Fr. Benny Thekkumkattil, the present Superior General of the Missionaries of Compassion.
It is almost a month since our beloved Fr. Jose Kaimlett “went home” as he always used to describe about death. Most of you had written to us consoling us at the demise of our beloved founder. We really appreciate your solidarity, prayers and support. I am sorry that due to many factors, I could not get back to you earlier than this.
He left us on June 27, 2018 at 10.10pm. He had a very peaceful and perhaps a quiet death. In his last days, he wanted to go to the Manginapudi Beach, near Machilipatnam for a sea bath. Perhaps, he was aware about his imminent death. About 53 years ago he had begun his active pastoral ministry in Machilipatnam, from where he used to take the hostel boys to the sea. On the day of his final journey, he had his sea bath and then the normal supper and went to bed. Within a few minutes, he fell asleep. After about 20 minutes when we checked on him, he had already gone home. What a blessed death!
Many of us feel thathe may not require the help of our prayers. In fact, he will be interceding from heaven for all of us and for all the good works he initiated. Like many others, I too feel that he will, one day be, proclaimed a saint, for all what he did for God, His Church and His people.
However, as was his intention, our priests have already offered several Holy Masses for his departed soul.If you also would like to offer some Holy Masses for Fr. Jose or would like to support any of his ongoing projects, please feel free to contact any one of us.
Some of the major projects that were initiated by him are: Good Samaritan Cancer Hospital at Ifakara in Tanzania, The Shrine of Our Lady of Kiberege, in Tanzania, Mary Baptist Herbal Cancer Care Center at Panathur, Kerala, India. We are trying to complete all these ongoing projects as early as possible with the intercession of Father Jose, and the continued prayers and generous support of people like you.
Besidesthese, Fr. Jose wanted to build 50 houses for the poor homeless onthe occasion of his sacerdotal golden jubilee. Though he had built quite a good number of houses, due to the poor health conditions he could not complete this dream project for the poor in the villages. We are planning to complete this project by building the remaining houses near to the Founder’s House in memory of him. However, it will be impossible for us without the support of his friends and benefactors.
Once again, thank you very much for your prayers, solidarity and support at the time of our grief.
Our prayers are with you and am sure that Fr.Jose is interceding for you too for your generous collaboration with his ‘mission’!
