Lovely humans of Fringes,

I write today with a very special favor to ask. I'm having surgery on July 6th and I'm looking for someone to take my sweet dog Rosie for a few weeks while I recover.

My housemates love taking care of her but I think being together while I can't really interact with her will be hard and distressing for both of us. If I can't find an alternative place for her to be during my recovery, I'll have to find somewhere else for me to be.

Rosie is a  4-year-old, 65-pound pit-type dog. Her favorite activities include snuggling, eating, and snuggling some more (see photos). She's completely housebroken and crate-trained as well, though I rarely crate her because she's so well-behaved in the house. She loves humans of all shapes and sizes and is even a superb diaper-change assistant, reports my housemate who nannies a little one in our house sometimes. She's happy with one good walk a day (and will forgive you if you skip a few), as long as she gets her bathroom breaks.

Her one flaw is that she can be reactive to other dogs, especially other female dogs. It's not hard to manage on walks (we've been working on this!), but she can't go to the dog park and if you already have a dog, that's probably not a good fit. As far as I can tell, she's totally fine with cats, but this is something we should test out well in advance with your particular cat.

Please let me know if you might be interested or know someone else who might be interested! She's a really lovely, easy cuddle bug. I can pay a little or work out a trade (I'm a professional gardener and experienced editor, among other things). It's a ways away and I'm reaching out early to try to get the logistics straightened out.

Love to all of you and I hope you're enjoying these glimmers of spring,
Mai
