Fringe-Dwellers,

Our next service is this Saturday at 10 a.m.  We are scheduled to be in the library at Germantown Friends School, but I am waiting for a positive answer about the availability of heat, since last month was cold enough, and now this month...  Stay tuned. (and if you know you could host in a pinch, please let me know)

In conjunction with Tikkun Olam Chavurah's Friday night program about the Philadelphia group "Heeding God's Call" and their efforts to stop gun violence, our service will, through prayer and song, take up some of the same issues as we mark the 14th anniversary of the murder of fourteen women engineering students murdered in Montreal, the one year mark since the murders in Newtown, Connecticut, and the approximately 169 children who have died of gun violence in the U.S. since that awful day last December.

As always,we'll need readers.

See you Saturday,

Elliott

Info on the Friday night service:

The Tikkun Olam Chavurah is having a Shabbat potluck and program at Rabbi Linda's house this Friday night at 7P.M. We will explore the ways that we can work with Heeding God's Call to combat gun violence in our city. There will be time for some gun-related Jewish text exploration with Rabbi Linda. In place of the executive director of HGC, the extraordinary chair of the HGC board, Rev. Katie Day, will join us. Those of you who know Katie know how wonderful it is that we will be able to learn from her.
