Weird!!!! It says electric, but  the burners appear to be gas.

Pretty cool sitting back watching this forum come alive the last couple of months.   wow I'm so glad everybody has all these Flairs ----- and they love them so much.

I was so weary tonight, I just couldn't even hardly stand to think about having to fix dinner.  walked into my kitchen, reached down to open the burner  drawer of my Flair... and I honestly had to smile.  Fixed a great dinner.  thankfully my sweet husband of 33 years is in there cleaning the kitchen now.  If only I had a Flair- type robot to clean!

Night all...
Angie in Ark/Tenn
With original Flair plus 4 backups in the basement!   Aaaarrrggghhhh!

I'd guess this is the Tappan "Fabulous 400" version of the stove/range
we know and love as a Frigidaire Flair. I have seen the Tappan
Fabulous 400 version in pictures on Craigslist and on eBay before.
Tappan actually designed and built the pull-out range-top and the high-
configuration ovens first (yes, before Frigidaire built & sold the
Frigidaire Flair). However, the Tappan Fabulous 400 didn't seem to get
the love or appreciation we have for our Frigidaire Flairs. The
Tappan Fabulous 400 had doors that hinged on the outer sides and four
burners lined in a row directly in front of the high-ovens; the Tappan
Fabulous 400 had a butcher-block ledge in front of the burners (it may
have lifted up and folded down to provide a work surface or to lower
it to get closer to the burners on the range. [http://law.justia.com/
cases/federal/appellate-courts/F2/380/888/315009/]

Sorry I can't confirm it for sure, but the picture on the CraigsList
ad suggests that the oven unit portion is from the Tappan Fabulous
400. The picture of the pull-out range top is different from what
shows up on Google. However, it could be one of many variants that
were produced with cahnges to try to improve the design and make it
more acceptable to customers. Note that this picture arranges the
burners in a more common and more acceptable configuration while
placing the controls in a line on the right hand side. Other pictures
show the burners in this configuraiton but also show the controls up
on the front and right-hand side of the oven (pict is of a single oven
unit) [http://tappantalk.blogspot.com/2010/10/fabulous-400.html].
Note that in the Craigslist ad, the trim panel that covers the opening
at the back of the range-top drawer is missing/gone/broken.

The really interesting part is that the range burners appear to be
gas. It's possible that some industrious repair-minded homeowner
wanted gas instead of electric and converted it. But that would take
some investigation. Maybe we should take up a collection to send out
someone to take a look at this item and document its existence and
collect the information as evidence... .

More importantly, how do we convince Electrolux to produce a modern
version of this range-top & oven configuration? That's what I'd
really prefer with a convection oven in one side of a double oven and
a microwave in the other side. This is a great thing to revive in the
modern market as a way to renovate a kitchen and make better use of
the space we have... . Is there a Lawyer following this Frig Flair
group who can help us understand what it would take to get Electrolux
to revive the Frig Flair design and sell it in the current market?

This would be a Tappan. This is not the unit that was seen on bewitched.
That was a Frigidaire Flair.  That unit was on Ebay several years ago and I would have bought it. The cost for shipping was unreal.
it was stored in some backlot that they were clearing out stuff that had collectted for years. $50 would have bought it. IT GOT SCRAPPED OUT FOR JUNK METAL. It was in perfect operating order so it was advertised.

My guess is that it's just what it says it is: a Sears version of a
Tappan fabulous 400. Remember, Tappan was famous for gas stoves
first ... it's got the Tappan doors but not all the Tappan features.
Sears often puts out "store brands" similar to name-brand stuff ...
it's nice, but it ain't no Flair!

This is not a Tappan. This range was made by Roper, either under
their own name or under the Sears Kenmore label. Roper made all the
ranges for Sears until they merged with Whirlpool in the late 80's,
early 90's. They also made this in an electric version.
I have a Frigidaire comparison brochure from 62 -63 showing this range
vs the Flair.
The Flair on eBay from a few years ago was a bogus offer as the
Bewitched kitchen set was destroyed in a fire during the series.
That's why they remodelled the kitchen with Maytag laundry and gas
cooking appliances.

You are correct. It is made by Roper and was called the "Charm".

I want to thank everyone for bringing their knowledge and expertise to the table on the craigs list ad for the what I thought an unusual Flair.

Catherine is the owner of this range, and has been watching our discussions and has now changed the ad on Craigs List to the correct description.

It was very interesting, and a big learning curve for me to see other ranges that were similar to the Frigidaire Flair. I am sure that Catherines Range would
be very collectible too, since it is so unusual.  I wish her good luck in getting it sold.

Again, I want to thank so many great people who took the time to bring all this information to us and share their knowledge with us.

Keep up the good work, and keep those Flairs up and running.

Best Regards

Tom Nichols
