If it has a Frigidaire hood above the controls (first picture), you just have to lift the lower part of the cover and the fan should turn on by itself!  If it doesn't, there's something wrong with it or it's not connected... Some ranges were also fitted with aftermarket hoods of different types.  On the last series, the fan was moved behind the controls (see the second and third pictures).
 
If you just installed the range, on some models the exhaust hood needs to be connected to a separate circuit. I think newer ones have a plug for it at the back of the range, (mine in the first picture doesn't).

two of the pictures appear to be an N series and the second picture has a vent fan
