The left front element is speed heat, heats up quickly as it says, they no longer make a new switch for this, but they do make a regular switch that will work. The right front front element is called a heat minder, it has a sensor in the middle, and will not work unless the pan sits on it completely flat, new ones of these are extremely hard to find, both rear elements and switches are still made. The electrolux company took over the Frigidaire Flair line, but has done very little to help those who still have kept their flairs working.
Typically we look for kitchen stove appliance people that know these stoves, this web site, some old timers, ebay, and in some areas like me in Los Angeles, there are two antique stove restoring companies and an actual antique stove museum. There is a gentleman in Ventura California that I just learned who rebuilds the oven switches and thermostats. Now that is one thing, that if your oven really goes out, and will not work, I suspect it would be the thermostat, in which, it would have to removed and sent out to be rebuilt or try and find someone on this site, who might have a used and working switch and thermostat, this is one thing that can go out and they do not manufacture them anymore, and you can't find them. If you talk to any Flair aficianodo, you will find the most critical part to locate is a new oven switch and thermostat. Again, we are all here to help, so whatever we can do, we will try our best.
I know that Martha Mae is looking for a new glass panel for the front of her range, and she is first on my list, if I find one. I got her a new knob for her lamp on her range, and you'd think she won the lotto. It shows how we are all so crazy about our Flair ranges. Martha, Karen, Mark, Carol, and many others are stalwarts on this site that keep us all grounded. I already have a list from this site of over 50 people that are in contact with Flair Ranges, just in the last couple of months, and I would say, that is a big group.
I may ramble on a bit, but I think it's good for all of us to remember to stick together and help each other, because we know it will get harder down the road when it comes to parts.
I have made some great friends on this site, and appreciate their time and dedication to the site and to all the people who own a Frigidaire Flair. Thankgs giving is a good time, to be greatfull to own a working flair. For me, all my living memories of thanksgiving, is the smell of a turkey cooking in our Flair, and the tradition still continues. The flair, is cleaned up, and set and ready to put the turkey in be able to watch, it cook and to enjoy a great thanksgiving and a life time of memories.
All of us have been hit some way or another with this current economic trouble, that we live in these days, please do not forget our freedom that we enjoy and be greatful for what we have today, even with all the troubles in the world, be greatful for this great nation, and take the time to be greatful and appreciate one another and try and take that one extra step and help someone in need each and every day, and if we do, the world is just that much better, if you don't believe me, try it, and why do you think I spend so much time on this site for others, because some how some way, I may have helped someone, who needed help.
I am not an appliance guy, I am a car guy, who lost his job this year and is doing everything under the sun to keep life afloat, helping others helps me get through the rough times. My knowledge comes from experience of working on these stoves as a hobby and from all the knowledgeable people on this site.
Happy Thanks giving to all of you! Everyone's comments are important, even if you don't think you have anything to contribute, and the questions seem so dumb. You have to remember there are several generations keeping these ranges alive, and they all need help, even if the question is repetitive, someone may have missed the answer the last time. So please step forward, and put in your own help and contributions for all of us, it really is appreciated, all of you.
