Hi!
If you go to our original site at:
http://obviousdiversion.com/personal/frigidaire-flair/

and download that pdf file of the
owners manual, (not the tech-talk)
you will have the information on how to
bake/roast in your oven.

I cook everything on my Flair.
I am fortunate to have the rotisserie as well.
It's awesome!
I honestly can't think of my favorite feature...
the whole Flair is perfect!

Hey Everyone!

Just moved into a new house with an old Flair.  I've got two
nonfunctioning burners in the range and I'm looking for elements/
whatever will make them work again.  I like the oven and stove, but
need four burners to do decent cooking.  Lemme know if anyone can
help!!
I think my model number is: RCIB635, and serial number is 39C62930.
Please help!

Keep in mind there are drawer switches on the Flairs that prevent
the surface burners from heating when the drawer's not pulled out.

It's rare, but those switches can fail. Most often in my experience,
the two back burners won't work when that happens.

The quickest way to test for that ( and the fastest way to check
any burners, dryer elements, etc) is to simply check for the presence
of 220 volts AC at each burner when its infinite switch is turned to
'high', using a voltmeter or 240V test bulb (I always carry one of
those in my pocket - very handy and fast for these tests!).

If there's 220V to a burner but no heat, you immediately know it's
open. If no 220V, it's either a failed infinite switch (most common),
burnt off wire, or bad drawer switch (again, pretty rare, but it
happens).

Your RCIB635's LF Speed Heat burner is fused, too, and that
fuse may be blown if the LF is one of the dead burners (Although
when that fuse is blown, it usually means the Speed Heat switch is
bad). You should find the SH fuse under the left rear burner.

Hope that's of some help.

God bless,

Dave Harnish

That's a Great response, very descriptive, so a person with limited knowledge can understand what is being relayed.

Hi Everyone,
Of course the reason the burners are not working /could/ be that over
the years someone has jerry-rigged them. Case in point, my husband and
I bought an RCIB-635-2 from a couple in Sacramento a few months ago and
we discovered that they had tried to keep the burners working by
using....now brace yourselves.....alligator clips, electrical tape and
RUBBER BANDS! /Really?/ Yes, really. (I should have taken pictures of
the before and after but, alas, I did not.) We replaced the scary
"re-wire" job with the correct wire and connectors and now all of the
burners are working but, more importantly, they are SAFE. I do have
some other issues with the stove, namely the clock but, I'll save that
for another post. So, Oska, if you haven't done so already, I suggest
taking the bottom of the drawer off and taking a peek at the wiring.
Let us know what you find!
