Hi, I have several flair stoves that I have recently acquired and I am interested in trying to make them look like new. They have baked on grease on the stove top which is not coming off with soap and water. The vinegar and amonia mixtures from some of my cleaning manuals are not working either. Does anyone have any ideas on how to clean the stove top and ovens without damaging the finish. I have checked alot of the posts and have not read anything showing  recommendations.I am sure there are alot of people having the same issues. Most of the stoves listed for sale have that black residue on the stoves they are listing. It would be neat if someone could post the various cleaning products that they have used to revitalize their stoves. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Hi,
I wanted to add a suggestion on getting off grime and grease on the Flair oven and cook top surfaces. . I have used Bon Ami for years. It's inexpensive, and works great. The advertisement on the side says "it hasn't scratched yet" and it doesn't. No odor and not harmful. Takes some elbow grease, but works. (The only bad thing about Flairs is that it doesn't have a self cleaning oven, right?)
You can get a can for around a dollar and try a spot, if you question whether it will scratch. I think you will find you like it.  You could test using an SOS pad also, as another idea.
Hope this helps. Nadine

Hi Everyone,
Here's what I've found works really well. I use Easy-Off Heavy Duty
(in the yellow can) but ONLY if the stove has such a tremendous amount
of baked-on grease (and I use the cold oven method). Easy-Off is really
caustic and I know a lot of people don't like to use it but, honestly,
it dissolves that stuff sooooo much faster than anything else. When we
bought our single oven (chrome interior) flair it was so extremely
filthy. I tried to stay away from the Easy-Off and instead used
Krud-Kutter, Windex, 409 etc., elbow grease and a razor blade scraper.
I now wish I would have saved myself all that time and energy and just
used the Easy-Off (in the places where I could) instead.

Now, even if you get the range sparkling, it's going to get dirty
again with use. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Weiman Cook Top Glass Cook Top
Cleaner!!! Yes, I know it's meant for cleaning *Glass Cook Tops* but I
found out years ago that this stuff works *extremely* well on chrome,
stainless steel, porcelain enamel, glass etc. It will keep your oven
interior looking brand new! Someone else suggested SOS pads but,
aren't they steel wool? DON'T use steel wool on the oven interior!
Maybe the cook top since it has the brushed look but, I'd be sure to go
with the "grain" just to be on the safe side.

Well, I sure hope I have been able to help someone out there! I am
grateful for all the wonderful people in this group and all the help
they provide! Long live the Flair!! :)

Do not use a circular motion only back and forth.

You don't want to use anything caustic and stay away from Ammonia products, some of the ne ORANGE cleaners work well. It is going to take elbow grease.

Hi,
I wanted to thank you for the wonderful suggestion. I went out and
bought several cans of Bon Ami and was amazed at the results. It is a
truly spectacular cleaner. I did modify the application method by
using Nadines suggestion in conjunction with yours. I added liquid
dishwashing detergent(Palmolive) a little water and mixed the powder
with it to form a liquid paste. I let it soak on the baked on grease
for a few minutes and then utilized a scotch brite No Scratch sponge
to scrub the grease away and to my amazement the stains came off like
magic.
Thank you and all of the wonderful posters who replied to my question.
I am going to try to work on the ovens next. I will let everyone know
how I fare cleaning my Flairs, Thanks again. Mike

Hmmm. I don't have any Bon Ami here but, I do have Bar Keeper's
Friend. I still have some burnt on grease around the burners that I
didn't take the time to get off before we installed the range. I think
I'll try the Bar Keeper's Friend and report back with my results.

Barkeepers friend will work just fine.  No abrasives !   Try some oven cleaner and let it soak for a while, may take several trys and use a plastic scub pad to remove the stain, Dave.
