Hi,
Thanks so much for reaching out. We also witnessed that party going out of control. We can phrase our poster better - I am imagining an extension of NYC Trick O Treat Streets with Halloween activities for kids and adults, not a DJ’d block party like that one. We are looking to collab with NYC DOT, Prospect Heights Neighborhood Development Council, and Prospect Heights Open Streets.
We are thinking trick-o-treating, costumes, halloween tunes (no DJ), cider, pumpkin carving and fairy house making. Nothing has been planned or funded yet.
- The time frame would be the same as the rest of Trick-o-treat streets 5-9pm
- Music, if any, I imagine would not be much less loud with no DJ and be cut at 9pm.
I am glad we are chatting now as this is just gauging community interest stage.
I am curious - do you know if the crowd was people on the block? I definitely don’t want a repeat.
Best,

Hi,
We just had a pretty bad block party last weekend that went out of control. You’ve probably seen the flyers posted apologizing for that. The DJs were not family friendly, and playing loud music until late. Police had to get involved to disperse the crowd. We are worried that this would be a repeat of that, and have a couple of questions:
-Would it be on Halloween night? What is the current proposed timeframe?A lot of people on our block (including my wife) are running the nyc marathon the next day so a bit afraid of this spiraling out of control again late.
-Are you planning to do something with no DJ/music?
We are all for a kid/family friendly gathering during the day/afternoon, and hope that’s what your group is working on.
Best,
