Bingham is over, so that means it must be time to start talking about Magnitude!
For those of you that have joined us since the last Magnitude, It’s our own bi-annual tournament, held on the off years from Bingham. Officially known as the John W Cook Memorial Tournament – Magnitude 15s, and marketed as Magnitude 15.11, it’s the only other officially sanctioned IGRAB tournament besides Bingham, and is in hot competition to become the 2nd largest amateur gay rugby tournament in the world (this could be the year!) Its open to all North American IGRAB teams and is even more fun than it is work (and it’s a lot of work J)
Every Magnitude has been a success and has built on the strength of the previous tournament. This year we’re hoping to have at least 10-12 clubs from across the continent, with 15 or more sides. If you do the math, that means a tournament almost half the size of Bingham, which brings us back to the ‘a lot of work’ part . . . .
We will be meeting on Thursday, September 30th (location TBD) @ 7PM to begin the planning. We need all sorts of help, from committee chairs to runners. If you’ve got great organizational skills and some background in the following areas, maybe you’re right for a committee chair – we’re looking for Transportation & Facilities, Pitches, Social, Marketing & Merchandising and Sponsorship & Fundraising. Have background but don’t want to be on point? We can use you too! Do or don’t have any background, don’t want to be on point, just want to be pointed in a direction with a task – believe me, we need you most of all!
I’ll send out the location and agenda the week of the meeting. In the meantime, please give serious consideration to how you can contribute to making this Magnitude the biggest and best ever. As always, if you have questions, you know how to reach me. . . .
See you at the meeting!
