There is quite a population of people, tents, chairs, junk, parts of bikes, rotting food, etc., both on the Geary/Steiner overpass and on the sidewalk on the Steiner side of Hamilton Rec. The other day, they had the sidewalk on Steiner almost blocked when I walked through there with my grandson (although today, at least there was an open path on Steiner). I did not use the overpass, but walk by it several times each week. It reeks of urine.
Also, I'd like to give a big THANKS to Rec and Park employee Omar who called 311 when a woman set up a tent on one of the main paths in Kimbell Park. She was tossing garbage all around. When I returned about two hours later, there were a couple of people, maybe outreach workers, talking to her and helping her get her belongings together.
