The weather looks like it will be nice Saturday morning and there were a
lot of cool birds in the Nature Preserve along the Riley Creek this
morning. If any of you are interested in meeting up for an informal bird
walk, Carol and I will be starting out at 8:30 AM this Saturday (May
11). No program, just a chance to walk with others to look and listen
for spring migrant birds. We will meet at the parking lot at the end of
the lane (NOT at the Nature Center) so that we will be closer to the creek.

Experience is not required, but for best results, please bring the
following if you can: binoculars, a smartphone with Merlin installed
(https://merlin.allaboutbirds.org/) and an "offline birds" pack that
covers birds in Ohio (either "US: Midwest" or "US and Canada:
Continental") downloaded, and waterproof hiking or other type of boots.
It was very wet this morning with some puddles that required wading and
mud on the trail. Hopefully it will be drier by Saturday, but you should
expect that it will still be pretty wet and come prepared with
appropriate footwear.

If you want to see the list of what we observed, it's at
https://ebird.org/checklist/S234643020 . We spent a bit under two hours
looking and will probably take about the same amount of time to make a
similar circuit on Saturday.

Hope to see you there!
