Invasive Shrub Removal Volunteering

Join the Friends of the Bluffton Nature Preserve in removing
invasive shrubs from the trails around the nature center. Meet at
the parking lot by the Moyer Nature Center. Tools and gloves are
available for borrowing.
Invasive Species Removal: Teasel

Come learn about the invasive plant teasel and gain experience
removing its seed heads. Gloves, hand pruners, and trash bags will
be provided. Meet at the entrance of the Bluffton University
Nature Preserve off Augsburger Rd. Students will earn Arts and
Lecture Credit for one hour of work.
Family Day Nature Walk
Join Dr. Jacob Buchanan on a nature walk. Enjoy the early fall
foliage, fall-blooming wildflowers, acorns, and pawpaws. Fun for
all ages! Meet at the Moyer Nature Center.
Homecoming Nature Walk
Join Dr. Jacob Buchanan on a nature walk where we will learn about
and see the various habitat restoration programs at the nature
preserve. Fun for all ages! Meet at the Moyer Nature Center.
Seeding the Campus Prairie
Join Dr. Jacob Buchanan and the Blanchard River Watershed
Partnership to learn about the campus prairie project. We are
converting a mowed turfgrass lawn into a native prairie on the
floodplain of the Little Riley Creek. Help throw down handfuls of
seed to plant the prairie as a community, then watch it grow over
the coming years. All are welcome. Meet at the parking lot by
Sommer Center on the Bluffton University campus. Students will
earn Arts and Lecture credit.
