Here are some of the upcoming events at the Nature Preserve.
On Saturday, October 3, Dr. Buchanan will be holding a one-hour nature
walk as part of the Bluffton University Homecoming events. He will be
talking about the various habitat restoration programs going on in the
preserve. Meet at the Moyer Nature Center in the Preserve at 3 PM.
The invasive plants removal project will continue through November.
People who want to help remove invasive shrubs can come to the Moyer
Nature Center from 8 to 10 AM every other Saturday. No experience
necessary and tools will be provided. The Saturdays are Oct. 10, Oct.
24, Nov. 7, and Nov. 21.
On Saturday, October 24, there will be an event to learn about the
campus prairie project on campus and help plant some seed. A mowed
turfgrass lawn is being converted to a native prairie in the floodplain
of the Little Riley Creek. Meet at the Sommer Center parking lot on the
University campus at 10 AM for this two-hour event.
