Dear friends:
FYI, I attach below an excerpt from an email received today from Joe Mercurio, Executive Vice President at BU:
" I have begun a discussion with members of the senior leadership. We had a very productive discussion at our Tuesday staff meeting and it is very clear to me that the senior leadership group is fully supportive of taking appropriate steps to provide a better environment for our cycling community. To that end I have scheduled a meeting of a large group of individuals who in one way or another will be involved in helping to get Boston University better organized to address the issues that we discussed last week. Next Tuesday afternoon I will be meeting with our vice president for administrative service, vice president for auxiliaries, director of public safety, dean of students, parking administration staff, executive director of facilities, and community relations staff. We will have a discussion about current conditions and I will solicit input from this group. I view this as an opportunity to raise awareness and let our team know that this needs to be a priority for Boston University. I am also hoping to ask one person to chair an ongoing discussion and form a committee that will meet regularly with members of the community as well as organizations such as the one you represent, and City of Boston representatives. So I have been communicating internally first but will be asking for a more public approach to begin as quickly as possible."
