We are very happy to introduce to you our “Vietnam Macroeconomic Report – February 2017”, which belongs to our series of monthly market research publications for Vietnam.
In this report you can find our review of the main economic developments in 2016 and a forecast for 2017 using Bayesian VAR econometric model.
The Consumer price index (CPI) picked up pace due to the Lunar New Year, to 5.22% (YoY) and exceeded the 2017 target level of 4%.
Industrial production in January was also affected by the Lunar New Year. The Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) was down to 51.9 points (lower than the 52.4 points in December 2016).
Both imports and exports increased in January (Exports in rose by 7.56% while imports increased by 15.8% (YoY)).
