I was supposed to intimate all of you about the latest meeting in Pune
days ago...I am extremely sorry for the delay...
On Saturday, 14th Oct, many of our members in Pune visited a place
called Shivraynagar in Kondhwa. This was the biggest thing we have done
so far in Pune. The agenda of the meeting and the interaction was to
learn about the hardships of the residents.
Detailed discussions with the residents have given us a rough picture
of the whole thing. Earlier I told you that the land belongs to the
residents...we found out that this may not be true for many of them.
This could lead to legal and political hassles.
That's why, we have decided to maintain a very low profile and carry
out simple and easy to undertake programs, those which arouse little
suspicions, for eg, carrying out a cleanliness drive in the area. We
have resolved not to enter the bigger issues until we become a
recognized organisation with some strong backing.
There happened to be, to nobody's surprise, already an NGO called
"Swadhar" in the area, and needless to say, it has been very
ineffective.We also met Anjali Bapat, the lady behind 'Swadhar'.
The next programme is a cleanliness drive. The date will be fixed after
we all are back from our vacations...
