Greetings Palmerston Community - and beyond!

Thank you for all the support you have already given us. It is with great joy that we write to tell you that the Newcomer family we sponsored arrived in mid-July - finally! The family consists of an elderly widow with four grown children, as well as a daughter-in-law. It is with equal joy that we tell you that this family of six will be a family of seven early in the new year! This lovely surprise means that the young married couple, the eldest son and his wife, will be moving into their own apartment in October for a few months of nesting before their baby arrives.

So, you guessed it, we need to furnish a second apartment! We are looking for the following (preferably gently used or new - hey worth an ask!)

• sofa & arm chair
  
• dining table
  
• kitchen ware / pots and pans
  
• crib
  
• smart TV / laptop (we can dream!)
  
• and most other accoutrements

Join LEAF and Friends of Christie Pits for a guided tour of the trees of Christie Pits Park at 10:30am today (Sunday). Following the tour, participants will give young trees in the park some hands-on tree care and be able to sign up to adopt a park tree. All ages are welcome, and fresh-baked treats from the wood-fired oven will be provided!
