Dear neighbors,
Many of you know Greg Gorham from his consistent, absolutely tireless commitment to the Manassas Battlefield Park. Or from his consistent service as a local election official at Sudley Methodist Church.
The decision to put a toe in the toxicity of politics takes courage - more than I have, for sure. In this geographic area, those committed to the local environment are majority Republicans. This is more than inconvenient for me, as I cannot embrace the thought of being mistaken for a closet Trumpist.
My experience of Greg is that he is a thoughtful, principled man. He has NO conflicts of interest. He enters the Republican primary to have the opportunity to get kicked around by people who may not be brave enough to commit time and skin to the politics of the time. Or to be “misunder heard, or misunderstood” by the media, and other politically motivated agents.
But Greg is a staunch Battlefield supporter… and if all politics is local, that is my issue… and if the Trump machine is going to be influenced peacefully it may well be by honorable Republicans. When I think I may, in ignorance, have voted party line for Anne Wheeler in the past, I want to throw up!!
Greg will work for the integrity of the Battlefield, and not as a secondary issue.
