Subject: New SOS Coordinator and administrator, SOS strategic planning session, SOS weekly newsletter
Hello
all
Hope you are all
well.
I am sure a number
of you are now aware of the fact that I will be leaving SOS as the Coordinator.
Many, many thanks for all the support over the years! However, I do need to
reassure you that I will continue to play an active role on the SOS
working group. I will be joining as an individual member. To ensure that SOS
moves foward without any disruptions to its work we obviously need to
get a new coordinator in place - please find a job advert attached. Please do
circulate this as widely as you can. Thanks in advance for this. Please note
that the closing date for the coordinator post is the end of March 2012. We
hope to have a new person in place by the end of April/ early
May.
Also, as most of you
are aware we are also looking for an administrator to assist the Coordinator.
Thanks to those of you who have circulated the advert and thanks to those of you
who have applied. The deadline for this application is the end of February - so
please if you still want to apply do put in your CV. Also, please do circulate
the job advert for the administrator as widely as you can.
Please find the two
job adverts attached.
Further, I would
like to inform you all that we will be holding a strategic planning session on
Monday 5 March and Tuesday 6 March. We will be looking at the strengths and
weaknesses of SOS and how we can take the work forward. One of the inputs that I
have received is the importance of building SOS into a "public broadcasting
movement" with a stronger grassroots base and more of a campaiging mode. What do
you think SOS's strengths and weaknesses have been? What do we need to do to
build a strong, effective, creative, citizen-orientated public
broadcaster? Do share your thoughts.
Finally, I need to
tell you all that SOS is developing a new weekly newsletter that will capture
all the debates and happenings of the previous week. We are hoping that this
will come out each Friday. Thanks to Media Monitoring Africa for all their
creativity and support in pulling this together. Do send your thoughts on what
you would like to see in this newsletter.
Thanks again to all
of you for all your ongoing input and support!
All the
best
Kate
