Dear Friends, We are glad to report an
abundance of volunteer support for Aranya Bodhi Hermitage, from April through the end of 2013, and
a few openings in February and March up to mid April.
Meal dana for Ayya Sobhana this weekend, February 23-24-25.
At the moment, Ayya Tathaaloka and Samaneri Sr. Sumedha are visiting
the Peace Pagoda in Fremont, and Ayya Sobhana is enjoying a few days
with our steward Charlotte Anthony. Charlotte would like to attend a
weekend retreat in her teacher's line if we can make alternate
arrangements for meal offering to Ayya Sobhana.
Special welcome for visitors in March through mid April.
There will be a gap in full time resident lay steward from March to
mid-April. Ayya Tathaaloka and Ayya Sobhana will be here together with
Samaneri Sr. Sumedha, who manages the kitchen with great devotion and
energy. Local volunteers are covering our town errands (more below). As
a result, we do not need a lay steward to be continuously present, but
our life is easier, nicer, and more fruitful with the presence of one or
two additional friends. If you would like to come for a day, a
weekend, or up to six weeks, there is a warm kuti for you.
Anumodana
and great appreciation go to Jocelyn Mackin and Holly Escobar for our
beautiful crew of weekly grocery shoppers. Ying Lin is organizing
another crew for weekly propane/hardware pickup and taking out the
trash. Full information about how to participate is
here.
The
hermitage Sangha will be coming together from April onwards, with many
returning members and a few newcomers. During the rest of 2013, the
roster will include these Ayya Tathaaloka Theri, Ayya Sobhana, Ayya
Suvijjana, Ven. Pasada, Ven. Munissara and Ven Nibbida; Samaneris Sr.
Sumedha and Sr. Santacari; Holly Escobar and Meredith Hooke; and a
number of short term residents staying for a week up to a month. There
is still some room for short term visitors, if you would like to
participate in our monastic lifestyle, blending service, meditation
practice, Dhamma discussion, and enjoyment of nature.
With joy and appreciation, Awakening Forest Community
