Dear friends,
As you know, we have been engaged in offering gifts to match a generous grant to build a more permanent residence or town home. This grant is designed to match amounts we donate up to $25,000. If we can reach this goal, we will have a total of $50,000 to use as a downpayment or to begin funding construction of a facility that would provide warm shelter for our nuns and a place for lay people to meet. I would like to warmly extend my gratitude to those of you who have taken this opportunity to share. So far, collectively, we have given about $14,000.
However, our matching grant timeline is fast approaching. The end of the Kathina season, and the conclusion of this opportunity is upon us in just a fortnight, on or about February 24, the full moon. At the close of the Kathina season, although our gifts will continue to be needed, the funds will no longer be matched.
With just $11,000 to go, our goal is in sight. This is an opportunity that we should take advantage of that will not return soon. With the lunar new year upon us this weekend, perhaps you will consider celebrating through the generosity of giving. Thousands of candles can be lit from a single one - yet that candle is not appreciably shortened.
May you receive much joy in return for your generosity.
With much gratitude and warm wishes for a happy new year,
Shari Gent, President
Dhammadharini Board of Directors
