cont... from no. 1
dear friends,
In the first and fourth photos here you can see the big, big shift in the area around our new kitchen.
It is all open and light now in the front and back. Sunshine was streaming in and sun-warmed air was wafting up from the lower land. There are no trailers down below there any more to block that air flow, and the trees have been thinned and their lower limbs trimmed so the sense is so much more open, spacious and bright.
In photo 2, you can see the new rug donated by Mahen & Sepali for our yurt Dhamma/Dana Sala. It is anti-microbial, so we will not have trouble with it getting moldy. The yurt was warm, fresh and bright. The new fireplace that you can see in photo 3 is keeping it warm and cozy. Thanks to Danny, Julianna and Leo Ananda for that! And to our friend and neighbor Don who took the care to see it was working right before we came.
There is still more to go.
The last of the three old mold and rodent-damaged trailers left while we were there this weekend. Final painting was happening on the new tool shed and the kitchen ceiling. We still need to build to construct replacements for two things that are now gone:
(1) the new communal library/office/sick bay studio that will replace the old Sangha Hall trailer. ($10K has already been donated for that, ~$5K remains)
(2) a new indoor shower block trailer. (This is already funded, and is just waiting to be built when it's turn comes.)
(3) water channeling work on the road above the upper landing and on and between the two landings themselves. (This is already funded, or at least there is a donation already made for it's estimated cost)
We are looking now at this work to complete the remediation of our hermitage happening over the winter in between the rains. Hopefully, it will be complete and open for communal dwelling/retreating again by Vesaka -- the full moon of May. We will see how things go!
We know, California did not get enough rain last year and needs lots this year, so we do not want to hinder the weather devas rain-making for our contruction aims. We're happy for it to rain (gently and timely for everyone's peace, well being and welfare) -- and for our building to get done in its own sweet time, as it can.
With thoughts of loving blessing,
and many many hearts thanks especially to Jill, Jeannie, Don -- and Ayya Sobhana!! -- and to all who have brought everything together for such bright and beautiful progress,
Ayya Tathaaloka
