Our New Sangha Hall Kuti
Recent
weeks have seen a new burst of energy as our good friend and builder
Rubisel returned from his travels, eager for work. We're near
completion of our new Sangha Hall Kuti on the hermitage lower landing,
which replaces the old Sangha Trailer. To make efficient use of a small
space, this cabin will have a loft, bay window, and pop-out closet. It
will be the monastics' sitting room, study hall, library and sick bay,
all within a 10'x12' cabin.
Immediately after this project we
will build our long awaited shower-block on wheels, providing for two
warm in-door showers. (Up to now, we have had our hot showers in s
special tent).
And we have contracted with a local road building
genius to modify our main driveway, diverting and controlling the rainy
season water flow away from our commons area.
These are just the
latest improvements to the commons area at Aranya Bodhi. There is also
the recently completed kitchen, our Dhammasala yurt now all cozy with an
improved propane fireplace, the toolshed and workshop. the wood heated
cabin for drying laundry and sewing, two storage sheds, a recently
expanded solar array for off-grid electricity, internet dish, laundry
tubs with the old fashioned wringers for clothes washing and dyeing, and
a two generous covered decks.
Thus, the commons area at Aranya Bodhi will be complete, with all the basic
necessities of a hermitage. We will be glad to pause the construction
projects for a while.
So many friends
have helped with financial support, with their skills and ideas, with
their physical strength and energy, with helpful furnishings, and with
their kind patience bearing up with many improvised solutions as we
develop this space for practicing the Dhamma, out of the raw wilderness. Sadhu! Sadhu! Anumodami!
