Lyrics from 'Pencil full of Lead' by Paolo Nutini
==================================

I got a sheet for my bed,
And a pillow for my head
I got a pencil full of lead,
And some water for my throat
I've got buttons for my coat; and sails on my boat
So much more than I needed before
I got money in the meter and a two bar heater
Now it's getting hotter;
Oh it's only getting sweeter
I got legs on my chairs and a head full of hear
Pot and a pan
And some shoes on my feet;
I got a shelf full of books and most of my teeth
A few pairs of socks and a door with a lock
I got food in my belly and a license for my telly
And nothing's going to bring me down
I got a nice guitar and tyres on my car
I got most of the means; and scripts for the scenes
I'm out and about, so I'm in with a shout
I got a fair bit of chat but better than that
Food in my belly and a license for my telly
And nothing's going to bring me down
Nothing's going to bring me down...

===============================================

...either way it's great fun.

I hope it brings a smile to your day.

Best wishes to all,

Vince

Great lyrics,Vince, and it is an interesting song.I'm forever reading
Buddhist themes into song lyrics ,which has gotta be a 'healthy'
thing?!..Even Robbie Williams is singing about the "Bodhi Tree" in his
latest 'charter'.Wonder if he realizes its significance?

more likely ,whattszname is advertising for that new age bookstore in hollywood ca.
on the chance someone will come to hear him in north america.
but again as some of us who lived in temple have witnessed , many will grasp at straws for acclaim.
sorry to be bitter , i am reacting to the decibel level in this shop .
none of these tourists seem to fear the instant death air borne virus
 which permeates here in high season.

Hi Jenni,

I'm holding on to my hat as tight as tight can be... it is great to see your spirits a little bit lighter... if that's due to the NA meetings then maybe you should just keep going... for now at least.  But whatever you decide to do... do it gently and be kind to yourself.

Without being a sycophant, if the 'Pencil full of Lead' lyrics brought a smile to your day then your reply has done the same here.  I'm not a great scholar, or the quickest on the uptake, but the line "Food in my belly and a license for my telly" is pure Zen.  Nirvana is here and now... you don't have to go looking anywhere else!

All things are temporary, transient and impermanent (without exception) even Sopranoville, so your days in NJ won't last forever.  One day you might even see them as an essential part of your getting well.

What is it you say at the end of twelve-step meetings... "Keep coming back"?  Well, keep coming back to FOTM as well.

Best wishes.

With Metta,

Vince

RIGHT ON !!
Y O U  R O C K ,
remember , it's the first one that gets you started.
meetings  or  dope......it's up to you..
keep it simple ,sistah

Addendum to my previous rants or reactions
 to mr robbie williams and
paolo nutini.........i've been east so long i thought maybe the second name
was an italian  dessert.
i should explain that i feel ALL beings are indeed sangha and whether they
aknowledge personal responsibilty for actions (action/reaction , cause/effect.camma or kharma ) or if they find their personal truth in other philosophys.
it's all the same to me. we say here in thailand 'do good, get good, do bad , get bad'.
though i prefer living amongst a buddhist majority, at any time in the last many years , my best times are with folks of many diiferent 'books' and skins ,
muslim , christian , jew  WHATEVER.

ssssssoooo , the point i reacted on without explaining then was that by
recognizing 'one of our own' are we at the same time denying other beings humanity ?

i again emphasize that if you put any number of aliens , farangs  locales , PEOPLE in a room and skinned them alive...
they would suddenly look , sound and think very much alike.
i am sure they'd be no talk of religion, sports or even rock stars.

may all beings be happy and well
bb
