Hi friends of Rex,

I just heard the sad news that Rex passed away this morning.  I got the impression his family is a bit bereaved now so this might not be the time to contact them, but I am sure someone will keep us up to date.

I am sure we all feel a loss at this news.

Curtis Kelly

Hi everyone,

Following up on Curtis' message below...
Kayo called to inform Rex's supporters of this terribly sad news and to thank you all for your kindness and encouragement.

I don't have any further details at this moment, but Kayo and I agreed to talk again later once decisions have been made about the service, etc. We'll post any relevant information as it becomes available.

Those of you who are familiar with cancer treatments and Rex's initial prognosis will understand just how hard-fought and courageous his battle was during these past 20 months...a true inspiration.

Take this day slowly, friends.

Steven (Nishida)

Dear Kelly-sensei,

Thank you for informing us of this sad news. Yes, I understand it is not
the time now yet to contact Rex-sensei's family, but ... very sad... How
should we (= OGU Gaikokugo-gakubu) survive without him!!

Gassho,

Takako

World peace is the residual effect of a whole lot of people who have
attained personal peace...

... not the other way around.

Dear Curtis,
My sister, who was in the same class as Rex when we were studying
Japanese at the school in Osaka way back in 1984, informed me of his
passing.
I fondly remember the times when we were walking after school and
there was Rex, walking in front of us.
I touched base with him after all these years, last year when my
sister "met" him again on Facebook!
Rex always reminded me, even then, of a silent yet strong person.
Glad to have known him, albeit for a short time!
My thoughts go out to his family.

A truly sad, sad day... :-(
My heart goes to Kayo, Risa and Rumi ...
Please take time to grief ... but remember although Rex is no longer
with us, he is in a better place.
I will remember him as someone whose intention is to help others :-)
