The Dovercourt Boys & Girls Club is a not for profit organization that provides after school, summer and March break programs for over 1,000 children and youth at two locations in Toronto’s west end. The mission of the Club is to provide a safe, supportive
place where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life.
Role Description
Position: Lifeguards and Swim Instructors
Start Date: Immediately
Nature and scope: The position is responsible for ensuring the safety of facility patrons by providing effective and efficient lifeguarding of the Dovercourt Clubhouse Aquatic Centre as well as providing safe and engaging swimming lessons to children of all
ages.
Reports to: Aquatics Supervisor
Hours: Part-time, weekday evenings and weekends (during the school year). Extended hours during March Break, Winter Break and Summer.
Unionized: Liuna Local 183
Key Responsibilities:
Safe supervision of youth during recreational swims and instructional swims Instruct a wide variety of lessons for children, teaching a variety of aquatic skills Conduct swim evaluations of all youth Attend all staff meetings and in-service training
sessions Maintain a safe and hygienic aquatic centre Qualifications: Current National Lifeguard (NL) certification Standard First Aid with CPR C (current within 2 years) Current Instructor certification – Lifesaving Swim Instructor preferred; Red Cross
WSI and/or Lifesaving Society Instructor and EFA instructor also accepted. Clear Vulnerable Sector Background Check
