I thought I would put my two cents in regarding the food charge that was discussed yesterday.
The initial idea, discussed at the meetings, was to provide light refreshments to the audience while speaking to them about donations.  The food and the entertainment = free.  The thinking being that we are asking them to come to our fundraiser and spend about 1.5 to 2.0 hours with us on a Saturday night.  As the guests arrived, they would have a chance to view our display, meet some cast members, enjoy the caroling while sipping some coffee and eating little holiday treats. It's warm, it's cozy, it's inviting.  The investment of coffee and snacks should be minimal.  The fundraising is not going to come from the $3 we collect on the cookies.  Charging for the food and NOT the show is a little strange as well since the value of the evening is the performance not the food.  Unless I am wrong about the type of food we will be providing.  If it is holiday cookies and some coffee, then $3 seems a bit much.  But, if we are having snickers, twizzlers, you know, normal concession stand fare, then I understand the charging.
The 50/50 raffle needs to be a large portion of the money collected because remember, we're giving half away.  So, if we are taking away from potential income earned through the raffle by charging for the food, then we have lost both money on the food as well as profit on the raffle.
Anyway, that's just my thought on the subject.

Talk soon,

Hello All...

I want to let you know that Three Village Inn is donating a dinner for two for us to raffle off on Dec. 15.... so we need to make sure we have some raffles around.

It's fine with me if the meeting is cancelled... My fam wants to go to the city.

See y'all this week...
