View Tribute Book
Nancy Josephine (Benvenuti) Prochorena went to be with the Lord on February 11, 2026. She was born in New London, CT on October 23, 1938, to Bruno and Alba Benvenuti. She graduated from New London High School in 1956 and attended New London Business College. She met her husband, Walter Prochorena, at the Capitol Theater in New London, and they married in 1958. They resided in East Lyme, CT for 66 years before relocating to Elkton, FL.
A devoted Catholic and loving wife, mother, and Nonni, Nancy found her strength in faith and family. She is survived by her husband, Walter Prochorena of Elkton, FL; her children, Kristine Roberts and her husband Bryan of St. Augustine, FL, Karen Billings and her husband Bill of Gainesville, FL, Kim Natzel and her partner Keith Leclair of Elkton, FL, and Kurt Prochorena and his wife Julie of Colchester, CT; and her nine grandchildren, Nicole, Cole, Leah, Rachel, David, Tara, Shannon, Tabitha, and Jack.
Nancy was a member of St. Mathias Church in East Lyme for many years and was devoted to church activities, including the St. Matthias Women’s Club and the Norwich Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. For many years she was also active with the Girl Scouts/Connecticut Trails Council and the East Lyme Viking Band at East Lyme High School. She retired in 2004 after serving over 25 years with Connecticut National Bank, later Bank of America, where she rose to management status at several locations in southeastern Connecticut. After retirement, she began her second career, working for 19 years as an usher at Mohegan Sun Arena, where she was very passionate about the genuine relationships she cultivated with coworkers and guests. She worked up to the age of 85 and retired upon relocating to FL.
A memorial mass will be held at both St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Elkton, FL on Feb. 26th at 10 am and at St. Matthias Catholic Church, East Lyme CT, on April 10th at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made to St. Ambrose Catholic Church Capital Campaign (Elkton, FL) or St. Matthias Catholic Church (East Lyme, CT).
'I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith' (2 Timothy 4:7)."

Good morning -
This is Nancy Prochorena's daughter, Kristine Roberts, I wanted you all to know, because my mom so enjoyed working with you and reminiscing about Fort Trumbull, that she passed on February 11 in her sleep.
She was so blessed to have been affiliated with you, she spoke highly of her experience with your organization and the friends she made.
Her obituary can be found at www.craigfuneralhome.com. A funeral mass will be held at St Matthias in East Lyme Connecticut on April 10 @ 11am.
Thank you for bringing joy and purpose to my mom's life
