to Friends of Barton Springs Pool
This post by Dan Crow could not be farther from the truth. Friends we
are an organization that has advocated for change at the pool. We are
a volunteer organization that focuses on issues inside the fence of
BSP. Our efforts are based on our experiences through our volunteer
work, and the time we have spent with PARD, Watershed and the City to
come up with sound solutions to the challenges that are a reality at
BSP.
When we conspire it is not for the benefit of nothing other than the
future of BSP. Our goals were determined in a simple memo that we
submitted to the city in 2006. Our efforts to meet those goals has
been advocated by the dedication of our board and members that are of
like mind body and soul. To say something contrary to that is an
insult to the hard work and accomplishments that we have achieved
since then.
I ask all of you that have dedicated your time and effort for this
cause could a "do nothing approach" achieved getting a $6.2M for short
term projects and the adoption of a master plan. Would the shallow end
be a slurry mess of algae if weren't for the volunteer efforts of
FBSP. Would Watershed be working towards a re-write of the salamander
permit that includes many of the issues that we advocated for in the
past 6 years. Would anyone even know that there are 150+ trees in need
of attention at BSP if it weren't for the efforts of FBSP to raise
awareness. I think not.
Regards,
Steve
