 Dear friends of ARCE-PA,

The Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Research Center in Egypt proudly presents:

"Fashion in the First Intermediate Period: What Everyone was Wearing in Egypt ca. 2100 BCE"
Tracy Musacchio, University of Pennsylvania
Saturday, January 16th, 2010, 3:30 PM
Classroom 2, Penn Museum

"Egypt's First Intermediate Period marked the downfall of the strong, centralized Old Kingdom government.  Artistic conventions were closely controlled during the Old Kingdom, and a notable aspect of the First Intermediate Period is the loosening of these conventions.  This talk will look at how art was rendered during this period, specifically regarding fashion.  Even though the period lasted less than 200 years, fashions moved quickly through Egypt's provinces and different trends in both men's and women's fashions will be discussed."

Tracy Musacchio is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at the University of Pennsylvania.

This event is sponsored by the American Research Center in Egypt.

$5 general admission, $3 Penn Museum members/students, FREE to ARCE-PA members.
