On Saturday, May 28th, Hootan delivered a very interesting presentation
on the modern European cinema and the four major movements that were
involved in it, after the World Wars: 1. The German Expressionism, 2.
The Italian Neo-Realism, 3. The Spanish Surrealism, and finally 4. The
French New Wave. He familiarized us with some of the major film makers
of each movement and showed us parts of each one's most important
films. Next he introduced to us three of the most important modern,
contemporary film makers of Europe: Roman
Polanski, Francis Ozon, and Lars Von Trier, and showed us parts of
THEIR films.
Thank you for a very well-organized, educational presentation, Hootan.
We wish to have you do more presentations on similar topics in the near
future, budd.
I urge everyone who presents something to post a wrap-up afterwards, as
this will leave us with a record of what we have done so far, and will
act as a good resource for reviewing what we have learned in the
future. (I'll try to post wrap-ups if you guys don't, but if you do it
yourself, it'll prolly be more accurate.)
Cheers,
Farid.
