Hey All!

What a spring its been thus far! So many of you have blown me away with your accomplishments over the past year, but just a couple I want to single out:
  • Wes' stunning marathon debut in Cincinnati - 3:36!
  • Laird, Chris Scott, and Dave Maitlin each going sub-4 hrs in their respective marathon debuts!
  • MaryRose completed one of life's goals by running the Pittsburgh Marathon (we all knew she was destined to complete it)!
  • Natalie went from a leisure 5k runner to completing her first half-marathon!
  • Brian Romine turned in an awesome half-marathon at the Ikea half-marathon by turning in a sub-1:30 time!
  • Kate continue to rock - she completed her first full marathon this past week! (How'd it go Kate?)
  • Lauren won the women's 5k in Brighton Heights and will defend her title this fall ;)
  • And Suzie went from a 5k runner to a 10k runner, and rumor has it she's done some 10 mile runs over the winter.

Okay, 'nuff with the bullet points, right? Well, my point in all this is to some extent I think our group runs have in some small way contributed to everyone's progress, and I say we get them going again as summer approaches and everyone's work schedule - hopefully - quiets down a bit.

So, what do you say we get-together a week from today at 6:30 pm formally? Now, I'm going to go running through Frick today and will meet anyone who wants to run at our usual mtg point @ 6:30 pm (the tennis courts off of South Braddock).

I realize this is late notice - and we all know I'm not the best on giving "good" notice - so if you can't make today that's okay: make next week!

Hope everyone is healthy, running, and ready to enjoy the 3-day weekend!! Go Pens!!!

Best,

Coach Coop

While we're taking stock of our accomplishments, Garrett running the Boston Marathon and most impressively, running The Pittsburgh Marathon in less than 3 hours, must be noted.

I ran across the street in 1.1 seconds on my way to work today.

Thanks Wes! I totally forgot about B.Werner - this guy very unselfishly jumped into the Pittsburgh Marathon at mile 20 and strongly encouraged me to not stop pushing myself while trying to finish in less than 3 hours (Brian was holding a steady 7 min pace); I made it by 90 seconds!!

Aside the fact that he ran across the street in 1.1 seconds today, and he looks like a rock star, and he rode this tank he calls a bike 60+ miles on Sunday - this guy is a rock star!! He's like the Bono of AmeriCorps.

See y'all tonight. And I say we dedicate tonight's run to Mark "Ezra" Beaty. His move back to Texas, baring Evgeni Malkin buying us a team van where Mark can live in (a long story...), has been hard this week ("We miss you, bro!"). Go Pens!!

Best,

Coop
