Hello, I would like to ask you if there is a way to use graphics in windows. I installed FriCAS through sagemath and when I start it by typing fricas in sage shell I get an error "viewman not present, disabling graphics". Fricas is working just fine but when I try to plot something it just does not work. I tried this  "draw ( cos (5* t /8) , t =0..16*% pi , coordinates == polar )".Thank you for any responses.

Hi, I have not installed sage on Windows before, but from the
"viewman not present" message, I think the support for graphics
is not enabled at compile time.

Coincidentally, Tim Daly just writes how to use AXIOM on Windows with X:
https://github.com/daly/axiom/commit/05ea37675103783670f98ac7779f0666a0fd7b19

Basically you need to:

1. Install FriCAS with X11 support.
1.1 You can use WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux)
1.2 Or compile FriCAS under Cygwin

2. Setup X11 server on Windows
2.1 Tim in the above link uses VcXsrv
2.2 Or it seems Xming could also work

May I ask you why do you want to use graphics of FriCAS?
It is pretty limited in functionality.

I am writing about FriCAS in my thesis and other 7 CAS free systems so I have to compare them in functionality. One of the comparsion is plotting and data export thats why I wanted to use it just to show how can you use graphics in case someone would like to use this CAS so I basically tried to do fourier series in different CAS systems and see if they are applicable or not. Thank you for your answer :)

Hello Jan,

As Qian said, I wouldn't say that nowadays the graphics capabilities is
something where FriCAS shines.

That's great. Maybe I can put a link to your thesis under
http://fricas.github.io/citation.html

If you are not only comparing graphics, then

http://fricas.github.io/examples.html

gives a small collection of what one can do with FriCAS. Other examples
can be found in the book.

http://fricas.github.io/book.pdf

I'm interested in you example code.
