Obsolete macros in configure.ac

Hello folks,

The actual configure script was built with autoconf-2.69.

I rebuilt it for my purpose with autoconf 2.71, which was released
almost 1 year ago and, apparently, configure.ac uses obsolete macros.
Here is the output with 2.71 (2.70 not tested).
