Krystian Baclawski prepared Mac binary for FriCAS 1.2.0. Since
is was tested only on his machine I would like to ask Mac folks
here to test it. You can find it at:

http://www.math.uni.wroc.pl/~hebisch/fricas/FriCAS-1.2.0-macosx.7z

This is a 7z compressed archive of application directory.

I would like to upload this binary to Sourceforge, but it would
be good to have confirmation that it really works (or a problem
report...).

I get problem with some library version requirements:

many errors all saying:

Referenced from /Application/FriCAS.app/Contents/Resources/lib/fricas/target/i686-apple-darwin11.4.2/lib/viewman
Reason: Incompatible library version: viewman requires version 10.0.0 or later , but libX11.6.dylab provides version 9.0.0

nothing starts ...

Thanks for the report. AFAICS Krystian used newer version of
Mac OS than you have. We will have to work out how to make
binary that works on all systems that ar in use...

The build was done on a machine with MacOSX 10.7.5 (64-bit) using the latest Xcode. Note, it's my first experience on creating MacOS bundles, so there are a few things missing (including OS version check).

Unfortunately I'm unable to lower library version requirements easily. I have no access to a machine with MacOSX 10.6.x, and VMware fusion doesn't support that version. I could try to build binaries for Snow Leopard, but Apple decided to withdraw support for Xcode 4.1 and it's not downloadable anymore.

Waldek,

I am running OS 10.7.5 on a Macbook Pro and built Fricas 1.1.8 with a
late version of SBCL with no problems.

I have a Mac Pro running the latest 10.8 and latest Xcode, latest SBCL
from Macports I think; Fricas 1.2.0 builds.

I will to build Fricas 1.2.0 on the Macbook Pro now.

Regards,

Jalaluddin

Waldek,

I have built Fricas 1.2.0 on the Macbook Pro now.

It seems to build ok, but spoonView3D doesn't work so I can't rotate 3D
graphics.

MacBook Pro; OS 10.7.5; Xcode 4.6; SBCL 1.1.6.

Regards,

Jalaluddin

There is now new version:

http://www.math.uni.wroc.pl/~hebisch/fricas/FriCAS-1.2.0-x86_64-macos10.6.tbz

which should work on Mac OS 10.6

this worked for OS X 10.6.8.

one problem left: the font of the xterm window is by default tiny. I can change foreground, background everything in .Xdefaults, but not the font. What is special here and how can one overcome this?

That's great!

I will fix that and ask Waldek to publish the archive once again.

I have put the new binary at:

http://www.math.uni.wroc.pl/~hebisch/fricas/FriCAS-1.2.0-x86_64-macos10.6.tbz

Note: the same place as previous version. Make sure you relad
to avoid gettin g old version from cache. For some reason
new binary is 2MB smaller than the previous one.

I wanted to download the mac binary, but it's gone and I couldn't find
it on sourceforge.

I removed this one, because it does not work on Mac OS 10.6.8
(only on later versions). Currently there is binary

http://www.math.uni.wroc.pl/~hebisch/fricas/FriCAS-1.2.0-x86_64-macos10.6.tbz

It should fix problem with small font in xterm, but I just noticed
that it lacked graphic examples and some HyperDoc pages. The current
version tries to correct this problem (but I did this just copying
appropriate files into the tarball, so I am not sure if it works).

Once we get binary that is confirmed to work OK I will put
it at Sourceforge, but the 3 previous iterations had some
problems (the last two rather small).
