Hi Freshman Advisors and Others,
*Freshman teachers and advisors would you mind scanning this and seeing if we are having similar issues?
**Is anyone else struggling to figure out how to support these new
students. Mike and Roberto's attendance has not been great and on top
of them, I can't get them to do any work outside of school. Can we
figure out how to support students we admit this late? I feel like we
aren't setting them up for success.
I wanted to send out a note to give a status message. We have recently
spent a lot of energy on having Lit Circles with our reading. We don't
let students participate if they haven't read or finished their role.
(This means that several of them can't participate which gives them an
NE for participation).
Having Issues (but these are students who should be doing great...check in):Emile B- can't seem to organize to figure out what he is supposed to do...he must come ask when he is unsure
Maritza- 1/3 lit circles, was not doing work, but I think she is back on track now
Zaira S- I am more worried about her than anything else...her attendance has been spotty and she had mention family issues. Does anyone know the story? She is wonderful and I want to make sure I am not docking her for lit circles if there is a serious emergency.
Stephanie S- 1/3 lit circles (otherwise great, recent attendance pulling her down)
In Serious Trouble: (Generally poor attendance bringing them down)
Cynthia A- 0/3 lit circles...ouch
Gustavo J.-0/3 lit circles...he would do well with this but he is consistently not doing his hmk
Ranisha Watson- very low reading scores, only 1/3 lit
circles...what is going on with her? usually she is very on top of her
work?!?
Talena F- 0/3 lit circles...can not organize to save her life! She must start doing hmk and bringing it to school in a binder
Lilibeth- 1/3 lit circles, low reading quiz scores, fighting, etc
Failing (probably not surprising)
Isamar P- 0/3 lit circles and does no hmk ever, very low reading quiz scores
LaSarah Lacy- new needs to catch up in book, not start fights, and generally follow directions
Carmen Lara- why is she still enrolled? I've seen her once all year.
Claudia Mungilla- never attends
Abel Ramirez- never attends
Eduardo Ruiz- does not produce work
Hojaira Anaya- terrible attitude recently, does not produce any work, very far behind in reading - anyone know why she has been acting out more than usual?
Mike Martinez- new, but still fairly poor attendance, has not come in after school to get extra help to catch up
Roberto Tapia- new, but again made no effort to come in after school to get help
Thanks for your support/comments/feedback!
Jane
