So what do you suggest we do about this mess, then?

What mess? Fresh is just going throw a death spurt. It happens every time someone gets a dictatorship. Yally's lasted longer, you know; we just need to wait until either A) someone finds a way to remove your dictatorship or B)

Ugh. Anyway, or B) something happens that makes people want to play again.

Whatever you say. Just don't expect much.

I pretty much stopped playing when James insisted that he took
dictatorship and refused to accept anyone saying otherwise, thereby
pretty much ruining the game for everyone. I'm sure with enough work I
could have intervened and fixed everything, but I didn't, and since I
still feel that James's dictator thing failed, we're all no longer
players by the player removing rule and have no way to become players.
Therefore, we'll need to start a new game if we want to continue
playing.

I have an idea. What if we make the rules to this new game such that
the goal is to gain a dictatorship. We can all occupy various distinct
roles with distinct powers, and the winner of the game is the person
who adds a rule that says "Player X is in charge." When that happens,
that player creates a new game, assigns everyone roles in that game,
and we repeat.

Also, I like your idea for the new game, if no-one agrees with spirit-over-spirit; it's quite similar to the rounds of yore.

Hey, Aaron... when we switched from the BlogNomic ruleset to the Suber one, did you change it with a proposal or your dictatorship? (Oh, please let it be the latter; if it was the latter, then I have a plan. Operation Artisan will soon be set in motion.)
