Today on 28 sept 2011,  High drama unfolded Wednesday in state legislative assembly of J and K which eventually put-off the resolution, seeking to appeal President of India to grant amnesty on humanitarian grounds to Afzal Guru, convicted in parliament attack on 13 December 2001.

As soon as the house convened for the day, BJP and JK National Panthers Party MLAs were on their feet and they started to raise slogans, demanding that the resolution, listed for the debate during the day's business, be dropped. PDP was all for the resolution. It played a double game by soliciting sympathy for the victims of the Parliament attack.

Omar Abdullah whose tweet unfolded into this demeaning activity needs to answer to the nation today. National conference wanted their members to vote according to their conscious. Hope the conscious also remembers the attack on the Parliament!

Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said he was worried that the hanging of parliament attack convict Afzal Guru could revive militancy in the state.

Interestingly, Two days before the assembly debate on clemency for parliament attack death row convict Afzal Guru, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi kept mum on his party's stand on which way will it vote. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Rahul-mum-on-Afzal-Guru-clemency/articleshow/10134759.cms

BJP feels strongly that the debate in itself would be a travesty of our democracy and judicial process. It would also set a bad precedent for the future, if convicted terrorists could avoid the penalties laid down in our criminal justice system”. and it would trivialize the sacrifices of the men and women that died on that day as well as those that have suffered in other acts of terrorism. It would hurt the morale of our security forces that continue to fight against the menace of terrorism. It would further strengthen the resolve of terrorist groups, working against the Union of India”.

While the PDP and BJP were clearly for and against clemency, the ruling National Conference and the Congress did not specify their stand. Now that the motion has lapsed, it only comes as relief for Omar.

As the house assembled again, there is was no let in the hullabaloo by the BJP, JKNPP and Congress members. BJP continued with slogans like “throw out traitors”, “drop the resolution”,

People of India should unite and come out strongly against this anti national resolution. This act  needs to be shared with all the people of this country. POLITICS ON TERROR IS NOT ACCEPTED.Jai Hind
