    • Excited about new PBL on 9th Avenue in SLU (Barbara).
    • Excited that SDOT will add PBLs to 15th Ave as part of repaving in 2018 (Andres).
  • Overview of SNG 2017 Priorities
    • Vision Zero Funding — seeking to increasing 2018 funding for street safety improvements.
    • Tactical Urbanism — supporting specific 1-day pilot projects by community members to show effectiveness of street redesign projects to improve safety & public space.
    • Multimodal Corridors — advocating for transit and safety corridor projects to better include biking & walking improvements and to happen more quickly.
  • Updates on SDOT Projects
    • #Fix65th. (Andres) SDOT has done short-term improvements to 65th Street; has committed to 2019 improvements; SDOT staff say the long-term improvements could be done in 2018 but we'd need to push.
    • Banner Way. (Andres) SDOT has first renderings done, and rechannelization should be implemented should be done late summer or earlier fall. If you'd like the rechannelization renderings, contact Brock or Andres.
    • Northgate Bridge.
    • North Seattle Greenway. (Justin) Project to be completed by 2018, with portions completed by the opening of Wilson-Pacific schools this fall.
    • Northgate Greenway. (Brock) SDOT had created an initial concept plan for a network of greenway and bike lane routes connecting the future light rail station to Olympic View Elementary and Sacajawea Elementary.
    • Northgate Street Concept Plan. (Brock) SDOT is creating a street concept plan so developers of the future King County transit-oriented development site will help pay for improvements to 100th Street between 1st & 5th Avenue. SDOT is currently deciding between two 1-way PBLs or a 2-way PBL on the northside of 100th Street. Our preference, communicated through meetings & emails to SDOT project managers, is for the 2-way PBL.
    • Bike/Ped Access to U District Light Rail Station. (Cathy) University Greenways, University District Partnership, and UW met and is creating a station access plan. They're currently seeking grant funding to create a station access plan in order to better inform SDOT & Sound Transit improvements to access the station. Also, Brock and Katie Lewis are creating a bike parking plan for the neighborhood. Seattle DPD & community partners previously created a streetscape concept plan for Brooklyn Ave, 43rd St, & 42nd Street (finalized Spring 2015), as part of the U District Urban Design Framework, which Cathy says SDOT isn't adhering to.
    • Fremont Avenue Transit/Pedestrian Safety Project. — No updates
    • Pedestrian Master Plan 2017 Update (Cathy) Should be adopted by city council by end of the month.
    • Aurora Avenue & Lake City Way Repaving (Lee) Aurora should be repaved this year; Lee's been meeting with WSDOT & SDOT folks and WSDOT is willing to consider a couple of pedestrian crossing improvements at 100th & 135th.
    • Roosevelt to Downtown High Capacity Transit (Brock) no updates.
    • University Way Protected Bike Lane, 50th to Ravenna Blvd. (Barbara) SDOT is repaving University Way from 50th to Ravenna Blvd in 2018, and is seriously considering adding protected bike lanes.
    • Green Lake Way Paving & Safety Project. (Brock+Andres) SDOT will be repaving 80th Street, Green Lake Drives & Ways, Stone Way, 50th Street, and 40th Street in 2019 and wants to implement safety improvements for people who bike at the same time.  We spent a lot of time discussing the proposed improvements, and I'll be sending out a second email to discuss this project specifically.  Deadline for survey responses to the initial proposed concepts is today.
    • Your Voice, Your Choice Funding. (Cathy) You can vote in favor of three projects in one city council district by June 30. Total pot is $2 million, with about $250,000 per district. Go Vote!
  • Upcoming Events to Plan For:

Project Breakouts

  • Green Lake Way Repaving & Safety Project.  As described above, SDOT will be repaving 80th Street, Green Lake Drives & Ways, Stone Way, 50th Street, and 40th Street in 2019 and wants to implement safety improvements for people who bike at the same time.  To discuss these projects, we brock into two breakout groups: (1) for all the segments & intersections north of the Green Lake Pitch & Putt Intersection, and (2) for all the segments & intersections south of the Green Lake Pitch & Putt Intersection. I'll be sending out a second email to discuss this project specifically and the conversations that we had  (although these conversations were exceedingly rushed during the meeting in order to end on time).  Deadline for survey responses to the initial proposed concepts is today.

Meeting ended right after 8 p.m.

Next quarterly joint meeting: Likely the second or third Sunday in August
